About Nick Boughton
Just a nerdy web and systems developer on the webbertubes. I make silly things and play D&D.
In a fit of curiosity I’ve re-written this site in Go. Having got more than a little sick of NodeJs, it’s tendency to croak at the slightest thing and the pyramid of death I thought it’d be nice to use something a little more robust. Among the benefits so far are:
- Cleaner codebase
- Smaller memory footprint (5x smaller)
- Cleaner package support
- Better build and development tools
I’ve also discovered Vim Bootstrap recently and it’s a godsend. It really makes setting up a good .vimrc quick and easy.
Next up I’m going to port several work projects from Node to Go to leverage some of dat sweet, sweet concurrency.
